This weekend is going to be a blast! Tomorrow I have an engagement shoot, I don't ever do engagement shoots but I think couples can be so much fun! Sunday, me and 3 other local photographers are going to Georgetown for a group bridal shoot. I think it will be quite an entertaining day so you may just want to come back to read Sunday's post.

But today, I wanted to make an unofficial announcement. I haven't really told anyone about this, but I've been working on "re-inventing" my business. I want to change my name to Shelby Leigh Photography (Leigh being my middle name, Martin just doesn't flow!), although I love Spellbound, I've never felt completely comfortable in it. I have been working on getting up a new flash website. Its nothing too fancy, but I think its easier to navigate and showcases my work better. I also picked new branding colors, a beautiful olive green and unique mauvey/purple color, and have already designed a new logo (all by myself), and I am really proud of it! Right now I don't think Spellbound is portrayed the way I like my photography to be seen: modern, fun, and swank? I try not to use the word upscale because its not over-priced and stuffy, its quality. And swank is the best word thesaurus.com gave me. And I almost forgot, one of the most important things, I will only be booking VERY few of my own weddings next year, which includes the ones I already have lined up. I'll be second shooting weddings for other local photographer throughout the year though. This new site is deidicated soley to portraits. Hopefully I can be up and running after I recover from the holidays. So if you object, leave a comment!

Words fascinate me so I had to comment.

SWANK has a punchy lyrical quality to it.

Be cautious, it is a word like dapper. Depending on surrounding content I have seen it used to elicit a feeling of pizazz, class and quality or used with other content I have seen it used to elicit a feeling of ostentatiousness.

I think Shelby Leigh or Shelby Martin are both great. Shelby Leigh flows and rhymes a little with photography. It feels artistic and friendly.

Shelby Martin elicits a more layered meaning and earthy feeling. For me Martin associates faintly with a lot of things which is what I think gives it the layered meaning feeling. My faint associations include a high quality guitar, a bird (purple), a type of animal(marten), a type of car (Austin) and lots of people. Actress (Mary), a singer (Dean), actor (Sheen), civil rights movement (Luther King), aeronautic engineer/defense contractor (Marrietta) or (Lockheed) and I just googled it and I can now add five Popes as well.
