I hadn't even heard of
"Fast Food Nation" before I saw an interview on Nightline "A Sign of the Times" last week. I wasn't really watching but I overheard some gruesome facts. One that really stuck with me is that ONE meat patty from McDonald's can contain meat from hundreds to thousands of cows from over 5 different countries! I don't know about you, but to me that doesn't seem right. I always knew fast food was bad for you, in the sense that its high in calories, fat, etc. But I never realized that its really just crap food. I am a big offender of eating fast food at least 2 times a week, but since I heard that interview I haven't touched it since, and I don't plan on it unless I am craving some salty fries.
When I heard about the movie I thought it was just another documentary like "Supersize Me", but come to find out its a REAL movie, based on real facts, with well known actors. AND it was actually really good and very entertaining! I've heard of alot of responses like "So what no one has died yet!" OR the most popular is "So, its good!!". I compare it to a drug addict, putting crap in their body and say "So, its good!!". You should really check out their
myspace page, and learn some new facts. Even if you will still enjoy a tasty Big Mac after that, you should see the movie, I give it two thumbs up.

In order to receive any print orders by December 22nd (Friday), all order must be placed before December 10th. All orders after that date wont make it to your door until after December 25th. I will also post this note on the proofing and ordering website. Also, I am shooting for a mid January launch of Shelby Leigh Photography, I was really hoping to do it December, to draw in some gift certificate orders with a big launching sale but that's not happening. I would still like to let anyone know that gift certificates can be purchased for the holidays. I can't think of a better gift, if I wasn't a photographer, that's what I would want!

I shot a fun group bridal shoot with 3 other talented photographers today,
Becky Waurio (who graciously let us use her gown),
Val Cavalheri and
Neal Jacob, and our gorgeous model was Sarah Look. We went to Goergetown, started at The Old Stone House and worked our way down to the water. It was a little cold to be wearing a strapless gown but Sarah stuck it out, I on the other hand have caught a cold. I am totally beat and ready to colapse into a sleep.
This is Becky doing her army crawl to get the shot
Multitasking
Neal wanted to give modeling a shot, unfortunetly it didnt work out.
The dress was pretty dirty by the time we were done with it, good thing Becky wasnt TOO sentimental.
My lovely DIY bouquet, I now also consider myself a floral artisit

This weekend is going to be a blast! Tomorrow I have an engagement shoot, I don't ever do engagement shoots but I think couples can be so much fun! Sunday, me and 3 other local photographers are going to Georgetown for a group bridal shoot. I think it will be quite an entertaining day so you may just want to come back to read Sunday's post.
But today, I wanted to make an unofficial announcement. I haven't really told anyone about this, but I've been working on "re-inventing" my business. I want to change my name to Shelby Leigh Photography (Leigh being my middle name, Martin just doesn't flow!), although I love Spellbound, I've never felt completely comfortable in it. I have been working on getting up a new flash website. Its nothing too fancy, but I think its easier to navigate and showcases my work better. I also picked new branding colors, a beautiful olive green and unique mauvey/purple color, and have already designed a new logo (all by myself), and I am really proud of it! Right now I don't think Spellbound is portrayed the way I like my photography to be seen: modern, fun, and swank? I try not to use the word upscale because its not over-priced and stuffy, its quality. And swank is the best word thesaurus.com gave me. And I almost forgot, one of the most important things, I will only be booking VERY few of my own weddings next year, which includes the ones I already have lined up. I'll be second shooting weddings for other local photographer throughout the year though. This new site is deidicated soley to portraits. Hopefully I can be up and running after I recover from the holidays. So if you object, leave a comment!
I wont ever have the logo in black and white, this is just for blog purposes

I never get the chance to shoot families, this is my brother-in-law's sister and her two kids! They were not camera shy at all. Here's a few.

I had too much fun in Annapolis today with Beth. She was a fantastic model. I won't be booking anymore beach sessions this year, this was a kind of a welcomed change. The amazing weather had EVERYONE downtown, Beth was a trooper while they all stared!

Today I headed into DC for a "senior" shoot. It really wasn't a senior but, Katie lives there for school and she agreed to let me shoot her, again. I want to give the seniors new ideas, other than the beach for locations. DC is like a creative photographers heaven, so many amazing colors, textures, buildings and architecture. It was drizzling and overcast today but it made for a nice fall session.

I have to save the rest for my new website : x

Mother Nature seems a little confused. I wore a t-shirt trick or treating last night, and was breaking a sweat in the car today. Not complaining. I had a senior session with Emily this afternoon on the beach, another calm and relaxing shoot. But we were definitely fighting day light by the end of it, we went at it until it was dark!
I mixed up a bit and swapped my blue chair with a wicker one.
